The Operational Research Society of India (ORSI) is a premier professional body dedicated to the advancement and application of Operational Research (OR) in India. Established in 1957, ORSI promotes the development of scientific methods and analytical techniques for effective decision-making in business, industry, government, and public systems. The society serves as a platform for academicians, researchers, practitioners, and students to exchange knowledge, share research findings, and foster innovation in the field of Operations Research.
ORSI actively contributes to the growth of OR through conferences, seminars, workshops, training programs, and publications. It encourages the use of quantitative methods, optimization techniques, mathematical modeling, and data-driven approaches to solve complex organizational and societal problems. With its network of regional chapters across the country, ORSI plays a significant role in strengthening research, education, and professional practice in Operations Research, thereby supporting India's technological and economic development.
Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi)
The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is one of the 23 IITs created to be Centres of Excellence for training, research and development in science, engineering and technology in India. Established as a College of Engineering in 1961, the Institute was later declared as an Institution of National Importance under the “Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963” and was renamed as “Indian Institute of Technology Delhi”. The Institute was declared as an “Institute of Eminence” by the Government of India in 2018. The institute offers UG, PG and doctoral programs in Science, Engineering, Management, and Humanities & Social Sciences through 17 departments, 7 centres and 5 schools. At present, the student and faculty strength is around 12500 and 650, respectively. As per the QS ranking, IIT Delhi is the highest ranked institute in India in the broad category of Engineering and Technology, maintaining a global rank of 36 in this domain.
